Supporting a successful School year from the home front
What can you do at home to help your child have a successful year in 5th grade?
Here is a list of suggestions:
- Check your child’s planner on a daily basis
- Verify quality completion of homework
- Ask to see the weekly Friday Folder. Friday Folder may have papers/projects for you to view, progress reports, school calendar, and other school communications. When you have viewed the contents of Friday Folder, please sign and have your child return the folder to school.
- Help your child organize their binders and planners. Organization is a skill that we must model, in order for children to develop the skill. Teachers work with them on organization at school, your support at home will also benefit your child.
- If your child is absent for more than one day, you may request our Guidance Office to collect your child’s missing homework/assignments.
- Five Week Progress Report - In our efforts to keep you informed of your child’s academic, 5th grade core teachers (Math, Science, English, Social Studies) send home progress reports every three to five weeks.
- Practice math facts Daily. (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Teachers look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us via email or phone:
