 Projects will be graded using a rubric, which clearly describes the standards for receiving full credit, and the amount of credit that will be given for lesser quality.

4= 100 or Excellent,  3= 80 or Good, 2=60 or Fair, and 1= 40 or Unacceptable

 Exercises are based on 100 points for perfect work.

 Activities will be graded with a + or -:  you will get a + if you complete the activity and a – if you don’t.  All of these activities will be summarized into one grade at the end of the quarter based on 100.  If you do all your work, you are guaranteed at least one perfect score in your average.   Many activities will also receive a second grade based on a rubric that assesses quality.  The rubric clearly describes the standards for receiving full credit, and the amount of credit that will be given for lesser quality.

Classroom participation is expected from every student.   This will be graded in a reverse way.  Disruptive or unsafe behavior, disrespectful attitudes, deliberate problem causing behavior and non-participation will be recorded as negative reports each day.  All of these will be summarized at the end of the quarter.  No negative marks = 100, 1-3 negative marks = 80, 4-5 negative marks = 60, 6-8 negative marks = 40, 9 or more negative marks = 0.

Homework will be graded with both a + or – as above, and will also receive a grade for quality based on a rubric, as described above.

 Bonuses – For many of the 12 units we will study, there is an opportunity to raise your grade through doing extra credit projects.   The points you earn for bonuses will be added to your total points for exercises before calculating your average.
