The History Department

Marie Fitzsimmons 

Ms. Fitzsimmons is a ten year veteran of the district and co-ordinator of the department.  She teaches Humanities Nine, Humanities Ten, and ACE American History.  Ms. Fitzsimmons is a strong promoter of democracy and social activism. She incorporates cooperative education in every aspect of her teaching and enjoys the tremendous input of the student population. She facilitates the History Club, coaches Track and Cross Country, and assists with Interact and Student Government.

 

Craig Cheplick

Mr. Cheplick  has been teaching history at WGHS for the past 27 years.  He is enjoying the seniors as they tackle History 12 and the study of government and economics.  Mr. Cheplick offers an elective in Psychology, a favorite among WG students.  Mr. Cheplick is a strong supporter of athletics and is the athletic manager for the district.

 Nils Watson

Mr. Watson has been teaching history for the past five years. He enjoys teaching the juniors as they explore US History and the nuances of the Constituition. He is the new advisor to the Student Council and is a promoter of student involvement.  Mr. Watson coaches girls' soccer and wrestling.

Kai D'Alleva

Mr. Alleva is in his 2nd year at WGHS and is a key member of the Freshmen Academy.  He is enjoying the new freshmen as they begin their work in the Humanities program.  Mr. D'Alleva coaches football, loves sports, and thoroughly engages the  students in both academics and athletics.

Kelsey Wood

Ms. Wood is the newest member of the History Department. She is teaching Global History II to the sophomores and is enjoying her return to Watkins Glen. Ms. Wood has a strong background in Women's History and brings a fresh and exciting look to the department. She looks forward to assisting with the Track program in the Spring.

·        Pass Global History and Geography I

·        Pass Global History and Geography II

·        Pass the NYS Global History Regents with a 65 or higher

·        Pass U.S. History or ACE American History

·        Pass the NYS U.S. History Regents with 65 or higher

·        Pass History 12  or ACE goverment and Economics

Electives: Sociology and Psychology
